Gabrielle Dupont

I arrived in the Yukon 18 years ago with a backpack and a few books. Like many Yukoners, I fell in love with the territory and its people. This translated into involvements in our dynamic communities from day one. My long list of volunteering stints includes local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity Yukon, Les EssentiElles, the Yukon River Quest and the Yukon chapter of the Canadian Hemochromatosis society.I'm an avid paddler and skier and I've explored many corners of the North, seeing first-hand the effects of a changing climate. I own an off-grid property outside of Whitehorse where I'm putting into practice a low-impact lifestyle. The Green Party has been a natural fit for me. I'm eager to offer Yukoners the Green choice in the upcoming federal general election. As a Francophone Yukoner, I recognize the needs of minority groups and for reconciliation actions with Yukon First Nations. I cherish our lands and deeply care about environmental protection.I have a background in architectural drafting, first working for the territorial government, then mid-career starting my own business, where I encourage greener practices. My clients range from local contractors to mining companies.I believe in our resourcefulness. Yukoners are innovators. Whether it's affordable housing, environmental degradation or health care challenges, we step up to the plate.I want to invite Yukoners to shape our own responses to Northern and national issues. The Yukon is a unique place and deserves a unique voice. The Green Party can be that voice. Une longue liste d'engagements communautaires inclus les organisations locales suivantes : Habitat for Humanity Yukon, Les EssentiElles, The Yukon River Quest et the Yukon chapter of the Canadian Hemochromatosis society.

Green economy

Economic sustainability

Economic sustainability is about fostering growth that protects both our environment and future generations. How do we do this?By supporting innovation to create jobs that benefit Canadians and the planet. Here in the Yukon, that means fostering a sustainable mining industry from which we can all prosper, without polluting our land and our water. It also means investing in renewable energy so we have plentiful, affordable clean energy to build a thriving economy without compromising our natural environment. We've already done a lot of work, excellent work, to become leaders in these fields. Let's be proud of ourselves and let's do more.Let's elect a Green MP for the Yukon.

Affordable housing

Affordable housing

Every Yukoner should have access to an affordable home.To get there, we need to partner with municipalities and with the building industry to create long-term solutions. We need to think outside of the proverbial box. That starts by re-visiting our definition of what a affordable home is.If we start from a solid understanding of affordability, we can make it much more attractive for the industry to build homes that are within reach of everyone's purse. Whether it's renting or owning. We used to know how to build affordable homes. Let's learn how to do it again.

Climate action

Climate action

The North is on the front lines of climate change. We've seen the changes degrade our infrastructure and threaten our communities.Let's not feel defeated. Let's be resilient and plan our future together.Let's have healthy communities. To meet the challenge of adapting to climate change, we do more of some things and less of others. More harvesting of solar and wind energy. Less diesel generators. More locally grown food. Less trucking it in from elsewhere. To fight climate change we keep big emitters accountable for polluting our environment. We have many tools to do this and as a Green MP I will ensure this remains the priority. We can't tax our way out of climate change.
It's time for real solutions that put Yukoners and the planet first.
No more empty promises and half-baked plans. It's time for bold climate actions.
